All over but the shouting...

I know the photo above doesn't look much different from the one I've posted in that space, but believe me when I say you're seeing new things. All those colors are newly applied, and they are different. We simplified the paint on the spindles, making them all one color instead of banding them with all the colors on the porch, as they had been before. But more than that, this represents the culmination of all the work I've been telling you about for over a year now. We'll never paint that porch again. There are some small things that we still have to do to finish the cosmetics, but we're ready to go. That "For Sale" sign was a long time coming!

I'm waiting now for our agent and his partner to come and make it all official. A lockbox must be put on the front door, and then the house will go on the MLS. Ron and Kelli (the agents) tell us they've had inquiries already, just from the sign being there. And, as we were on the porch all day yesterday working, we saw the traffic, the people stopping by on their walks (one woman asked, "are you giving up that beautiful porch?" I smiled and told her we couldn't take it with us.), and the cars slowing down to take a look.

The house is as shiny as it's ever been, inside and out. Here's hoping it all goes quickly and smoothly.

Sweet house sweet porch and sweet memories.
All happens with moving.
Hoping it does goes smoothly and swiftly for you.
The place sure has curb appeal.

Ralph, the house looks great! I have no doubt it will sell, and here's hoping very quickly and at a price you want! While you can't take the porch with you... you will take the "home" with you! I'm with Mim. You'll have sweet memories for sure.

The house shows all the hard work and care. With flowers blooming and some good smells emanating from the kitchen, It'll sell in a wink. Best of luck!

Looks like you and Steve could stage homes for sale for a living. The property looks really inviting, what is called "curb appeal". Should be on a few people's wish list. Bet it's as nice on the inside too. Tried your Friday Food recipe last night and it was delicious. Followed every step, no variations. Thanks.

Great photos, great looking house. I see it's close to Bailey's Crossroads. That's where I took flying lessons. Is that airport next to the old outdoor movie lot still there? Used to be piper cubs only. I also noticed you didn't list with the ReMax guy. What happened to him? He couldn't help the referral I sent up there because the owner is upside down. Still working to get that puppy refinanced.

Yes, I've been to parties in your neighborhood back in the day. For some reason I thought you were close to the National Cemetery. Well, you're not that far at the map location but I thought off Route 50 behind Ft Myers. Good Luck and I copied the .com address to send to friends up there and a couple waiting on the O man to relo from Patrick AFB.

Z&M, Bailey's Crossroads might as well be on a new planet compared to what you remember. You wouldn't recognize it. Oddly, the two little flagstone houses, supposedly owned by the Baily family of Barnum and Bailey's Circus (this the name of the crossroads--all urban legend, as it turns out, that used to be where the literal crossroads was (it's now a cloverleaf) are still nearby, but they were moved to new sites about 40 years ago. And in my child's eye I can see them as graceful, large houses, they're actually tiny!

ReMax guy? Oh, Casey O'Neill. The partnership we went with are much more passionate about the house, hungrier for the business. Thanks for the references.

I'm guessing you mean my little piper airport got bulldozed. I don't get out that way much when visiting as I am always driven to downtown D.C. Georgetown, my old haunts. Used to be three friends lived in Rosslyn, we love that part of Arlington. They moved to Williamsburg, Charlottesville and Richmond when retired. But I still dine there at least once each visit. The Orleans House is a favorite for lunch. I'm hoping I can get up there this summer or in the Fall when I like it the most.

Hate to break this to you but the Orleans House went the way of the Baileys X-roads airport. It lasted a long time though--just went last year.

Ralph! Say it isn't so. I think you just ruined my day. We loved that place. Steak and Salad bar AND baked potato for under $10 bucks. Darn it.

Sorry! Yup. The Orleans House and those forks that used to bend under the pressure of holding the steak in place while you cut it is a hole in the ground today....
